There is nothing quite like the smell and taste of fresh bread baked in Bordeaux’s oldest bakery.

You can sit at a communal table and watch the bread being baked in the original 1765 open wood fired oven, then enjoy it with fresh coffee and other bakery goods – that’s if you know where to find the bakery.

I know where it is and where you can find more of Bordeaux’s famous foods: the best desserts and pastries, the region’s favourite Basque pork and duck charcuterie, wine flavoured chocolates, sumptuous local cheeses and much more.

They’re all available in Bordeaux’s back streets, but you have to know where to look.
